NEVER EVER
Never punish a dog after you call him to you. It will make him/her fearful of coming to you. If the dog needs to be corrected, go to him/her.
Never strike a puppy in the face. It will make him/her fearful of your hand and he will learn to shy away. In fact, striking a puppy anywhere is strongly discouraged. A scruff shake or a stern scolding while you hold his face in your hands will be much more effective.
Never allow learning to become a negative experience. If you are frustrated, stop the lesson. Remember your nervousness and anger travels right down the lease. Keep a positive attitude and always end the session with praise.
Never expect your dog to know what you want. Communicate verbally with commands that can be associated with certain acts.
Never jog with your puppy. This workout is too much for young bones and is not the proper pace to develop muscle. Biking is good, but not before 18 months of age, and only if it is done at the natural gait or trotting pace of the dog. Until that time, use walking and play to keep your dog in good shape.
NEVER EVER RIDE YOUR DOG IN THE BACK OF A PICKUP
Never leave your dog in a closed car, they can over heat. Bouviers feel the heat quickly, even if the windows are open, it is still not safe.
Never spray fertilizes or use chemicals of any kind without verifying how to safeguard your dog.
Never use galvanized metal edging in your yard or any area where your Bouviers exercises. It is capable of causing severe and permanent damage to feet and legs.
Never leave a choke collar on a dog when off lead.
Never let your dog run unattended. It is illegal and often fatal.
